Mailbox full of animals!

I received Bird Tag from Capricorn, Germany this cute post card and bunny stickers too, thanks! There are Great spotted woodbecker -female - (käpytikka in Finnish) on the left and Great tit (talitiainen) on the right.

What a Great Monday!

Today I received six post cards from all over the
world!




















Newrule mailed me a post card from Malaysia, another country TAG. The card is from Taiwan, Reaching-moon Tower of Shui-tou =). And what a colourful stamp!





















Ye olden times TAG: Taxingwoman posted me two cards from Dundurn Castle (what a great place!) in Hamilton, Canada =) The stamps are the Year of the Dog -stamps.
















Sunset/sunrise TAG from homeschoolmom, USA. She told the cypress tree in the picture is the state tree of Louisiana.










Another language than English TAG: a beautiful post card (by Rudolf Koivu) with Estonian text on it, thank You eeia! In the stamp there is a flatfish.





Music TAG from Meemu, Finland with great stamp of Runeberg (Finnish writer).

Old pictures from Pori

I bought today some very wonderful old post cards from my hometown Pori and I now like to share these with You.

A shoe store and shoemaker shop L.Menonen in year 1939. Notice the phone number (puhelin 400) at the sign. They were not too long at that time in Pori =)













The Market Place of Pori in year 1939, just before Winter War. In the front there are splint baskets (pärekori in Finnish) of which Pori has been known for centuries.




Old Charlotta Brigde over The River Kokemäki on the left and new Pori Bridge on the right in year 1926. The big building behind was Finlayson Cotton Factory (burned badly in 1978 and again 1981 and therefore went out of business) and it's nowadays University of Pori .

Pori has burned down 9 times during its history!

Here's old view from Kokemäki River, picture is taken in 1860. These buildings were made after the great fire of Pori 22.5.1852 when almost the whole town burned down. I used to work for ten years in the building marked yellow.

Childrens book illustration Tag Vol. 1

Pippi Långstrump = Pippi Longstocking (Peppi Pitkätossu as we say in Finnish) is one of my all time childrens book favourites, thanks Kaisa =). Please notice the colourful baby chicken stamp. I got my first post card from Morcaa, Germany 6.3.2006! It's a beautiful card from Galdbeck and I love the stamps as well =)
